Inspired by a response to Michael McCormack’s curatorial query of shifting motives while “adjusting to such frequently changing urban infrastructure” for Nocturne: Art at Night, 2016.
This series of miniature photographic paper buildings represent real buildings that were under construction in downtown and north end Halifax. I designed simplified structures based on the buildings’ outline and used photographs I’d taken at the construction sites.
Individually, the paper buildings represent changes in the immediate neighbourhoods. While collectively, they represent the changes in larger districts of the city.
